Senior/Staff Software Engineer (Machine Learning Runtime), Motion Planning

Salary: $130,000–$220,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, implement, and optimize production runtime pipelines for machine-learning-based autonomous vehicle planning.
• Integrate and deploy machine learning models in a scalable, safety-critical planning software stack.
• Develop high-performance C++ components for feature extraction, inference, post-processing, trajectory generation, and runtime orchestration.
• Optimize inference latency, throughput, memory usage, and multithreaded performance on compute-constrained embedded platforms.
• Design runtime validation, safety guardrails, fallback mechanisms, testing, monitoring, and observability.
• Investigate complex edge cases and production failures using logs, profiling, visualization, offline replay, and quantitative analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience developing high-performance production software.
• Strong C++ skills and experience maintaining large-scale software systems.
• Experience with real-time systems, production machine learning inference, software architecture, testing, and debugging.
• Familiarity with TensorRT, CUDA, ONNX Runtime, or similar inference acceleration frameworks.
• Strong ownership, analytical problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Autonomous driving planning, prediction, or robotics software experience.
• CPU and GPU profiling experience, including embedded GPU platforms.
• Familiarity with PyTorch and machine learning workflows.
• Experience with distributed systems, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure.
• Technical leadership and mentoring experience on large production software projects.
