Staff Real Time Software Engineer (C++)

Location: Farmingdale, New York, United States. The role supports the Radar team and requires US Citizenship to qualify for a US Department of Defense Secret Clearance.

Salary: $149,978–$263,755 annually, with a potential annual or quarterly bonus.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain embedded software using modern C++, embedded Linux, and RTOS for safety-critical systems.
• Define software architectures, component designs, interfaces, requirements, and architectural tradeoffs.
• Perform timing analysis, bus bandwidth analysis, and hardware resource utilization estimates and measurements.
• Create verification plans, test procedures, test environments, and documented test results.
• Support hardware/software integration, design verification, acceptance testing, and formal customer-witnessed testing.
• Present technical information at customer design reviews and technical interchange meetings while contributing to project schedules.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, plus 15+ years of related experience.
• Extensive experience with modern C++, real-time operating systems, and real-time embedded systems.
• Experience with hardware/software co-design, including drivers, interrupts, DMA, and memory/cache strategies.
• Experience with object-oriented design, software architecture patterns, and the full software development life cycle.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps; GitLab, Jenkins, Git Bash, Jira, and Artifactory experience is beneficial.
• Must be a US Citizen with a background that permits the US Department of Defense to issue a Secret Clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with active electronically scanned arrays (AESA).
• Experience with GitLab, Jenkins, Git Bash, Jira, or Artifactory.
