Associate, CRE Underwriting

Location: New York, NY; authorized to work in the United States

Salary: $140,000–$150,000 annual base salary, with potential discretionary bonus

What you will do

• Coordinate property-level diligence and complete underwriting models for CMBS and commercial real estate financing transactions.
• Analyze borrowers, assets, markets, and investment strategies across multifamily, industrial, hospitality, retail, and office properties.
• Monitor the public CMBS portfolio, track performance, identify credit risks, and assess collateral and market conditions.
• Conduct due diligence across senior mortgages, mezzanine loans, B-notes, preferred equity, JV equity, and NPLs.
• Prepare investment committee materials covering transaction terms, risks, mitigants, assumptions, cash flows, sponsors, and market dynamics.
• Contribute to research-driven investment projects and initiatives.

Requirements

• 4–6 years of commercial real estate experience, including loan origination, underwriting, loan workouts, or debt/equity asset management.
• Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, real estate, or a related field preferred.
• Strong understanding of commercial real estate debt structures and core financial concepts.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and contribute to a collaborative environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; authorization to work in the United States is required.
