Senior Security Research Engineer (Cybersecurity)

What you will do

• Research, develop, implement, and continuously improve vulnerability detection signatures and scanning processes.
• Investigate customer-reported vulnerability detection issues, troubleshoot root causes, and modify code to resolve them.
• Participate in customer calls and meetings to clarify issues and communicate effective resolutions.
• Track emerging vulnerabilities, attacks, and countermeasures while improving detection quality.
• Coordinate team tasks, prioritize work, mentor junior engineers, and help resolve customer issues on time.
• Explore AI/ML applications for automated signature generation, false-positive and false-negative reduction, anomaly detection, and vulnerability triage.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in network and systems security.
• BE/B.Tech/MCA, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, SSL/TLS, common vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques.
• Hands-on experience with Python, Bash, containers, Docker, Kubernetes, network analysis, and packet capture analysis.
• System administration experience on Windows or Unix/Linux platforms, plus knowledge of VPNs, firewalls, and IDS/IPS technologies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and handle customer-facing issues.

Nice to have

• Experience applying AI/ML or LLMs to security research, detection, classification, anomaly detection, or automation.
• Knowledge of Lua or Java.
• Experience with virtualization platforms, cloud platforms, vulnerability scanners, IDS/IPS, or security automation tools.
• OSCP, CISSP, GIAC, or similar industry certifications.
• Ability to lead projects independently with minimal supervision.
