TL;DR
Sr. Distinguished Scientist - PSTS Neuroscience Disease Area Lead (Neuroscience): Leading disease-area scientific strategy and risk stewardship for neuroscience drug discovery and development programs from discovery through registration with an accent on translational signals, regulatory science, and portfolio planning. Focus on designing modality-specific development plans, guiding regulatory submissions and diligence, mentoring scientific leaders, and coordinating cross-functional strategy with therapeutic-area partners and external experts.

Location: Spring House, Pennsylvania, United States; Beerse, Antwerp, Belgium; or San Diego, California, United States. Expected travel: 20% domestic and international.

Base pay: $173,000–$299,000 annually, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

  • Lead neuroscience disease-area strategy and risk stewardship across the PSTS portfolio from discovery through registration.
  • Bring disease-area pipeline knowledge to PSTS teams and coordinate with therapeutic-area, regulatory, medical safety, and clinical pharmacology partners.
  • Develop strategic project-planning frameworks covering class risks, translational signals, platform learnings, discovery plans, and development ADPs.
  • Provide expert review of PSTS plans and regulatory submissions while proactively addressing scientific and regulatory questions.
  • Track milestones, issues, attrition, competitive intelligence, and regulatory developments; identify strategic gaps for action.
  • Coach and mentor PSTS leaders, provide executive-level updates, and lead strategic projects or PSTS teams as needed.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a scientific discipline with 10+ years of experience or equivalent industry expertise.
  • Deep scientific understanding of neuroscience discovery and development.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical science, drug development strategies, and regulatory requirements for first-in-human approval or therapeutic registration.
  • Experience creating and implementing scientific PSTS and project-team plans, including target areas, TPPs, and ADPs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for executive and external settings.
  • Experience with coaching, matrix leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and external scientific visibility.

Nice to have

  • Dual advanced degree such as MD or DVM, or equivalent advanced training.
  • Board certification such as DABT or DACVP.
  • Experience with FDA or other regulatory interactions, clinical collaboration, diligence, and neuroscience governance decisions.
