Quantum Compilation Scientist

Location: Paris, France; hybrid workplace with a flexible remote policy of up to 40% per month

Company

Alice & Bob is developing a universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer based on superconducting Schrödinger cat qubits with autonomous quantum error correction.

What you will do

• Develop the quantum compilation tool suite through theoretical studies and implementation.
• Translate quantum programs into physical gate operations and optimize their use of the fault-tolerant architecture.
• Improve the resource estimator by integrating the latest architectural advances and prepare it for external users.
• File patents, publish scientific results, and present research at conferences.
• Mentor junior team members, interns, and PhD students.

Requirements

• Expertise in quantum compilation, quantum error correction, fault-tolerant quantum algorithms, classical language theory, and compilation theory.
• PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Quantum Information Science, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python and at least one compiled language such as C++ or Rust.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Professional-level English proficiency, written and spoken.

Nice to have

• Expertise in graph theory or branch-and-bound and constraint-propagation algorithms.
• Knowledge of classical compiler backends such as LLVM or GCC, or high-performance and specialized computing compilers.
• Knowledge of computer architecture and operating systems.
