TL;DR
Data Scientist III (AI): Building and deploying advanced statistical, machine learning, and generative AI solutions for environmental services with an accent on model validation, production readiness, and business impact. Focus on designing reusable analytical components, monitoring model performance, and solving complex problems involving LLMs, semantic retrieval, bias, drift, and hallucination detection.
Location: In-office in Phoenix, Arizona; must reside in the metro Phoenix area

What you will do
- Design and build advanced statistical, predictive, machine learning, and AI models.
- Translate ambiguous business problems into analytical approaches and communicate insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Develop model monitoring and diagnostics, addressing data limitations, bias, drift, prompt engineering, semantic retrieval, and hallucination detection.
- Deploy models and reusable AI and analytical components to production in partnership with engineering, data, and product teams.
- Apply analytics to commercial, operational, financial, logistics, and customer experience problems.
- Mentor data scientists and technical teams on modeling, architecture, and problem-solving approaches.
Requirements
- Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL, including relational data concepts.
- At least 5 years of experience with advanced programming, complex statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms, or AI applications using large databases and cloud environments.
- At least 5 years of experience with advanced statistical modeling, machine learning methods, and/or AI models.
- Strong understanding of generative AI, large language models, and enterprise use cases.
- Experience with software engineering practices, including Git, code reviews, and modular design.
- Must reside in the metro Phoenix, Arizona area and work in the office.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in mathematics, computer science, information management, statistics, engineering, or another analytical field.
- Experience with Snowflake, AWS, MLOps tools, and experiment tracking frameworks.
- Familiarity with GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code.
