Quality Engineer (P5/P7)

Location: On-site at the Upton, New York campus, United States

Salary: $92,300–$130,000 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.

What you will do

• Plan assessments and develop methodologies, criteria, and approaches focused on significant risks and management needs.
• Lead and participate in multidisciplinary assessment teams across research and operational environments.
• Collect and analyze evidence through interviews, document reviews, observations, and inspections.
• Evaluate compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements and assess process and program effectiveness.
• Prepare assessment reports, brief management, and communicate findings and corrective directions.
• Support the PMAP process, enterprise risk management, and engagement with Laboratory management and Brookhaven Site Office counterparts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related field, plus at least three years of professional experience in quality assurance, quality control, assessment, or process improvement.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary assessments from planning through report issuance, including scope, criteria, and findings.
• Ability to synthesize assessment results into reports for senior management and regulatory audiences.
• Experience interpreting regulatory or contractual requirements and evaluating compliance in a technical operating environment.
• Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office for report production, markup, and data analysis.
• Must be able to work on-site at the Upton, NY campus; visa sponsorship is not available. The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Uncleared Personal Identity Verification credential.

Nice to have

• Seven or more years of experience in a quality-management-related field and a master’s degree.
• ASQ Certified Quality Auditor certification.
• Training in causal analysis methodologies such as BlueDragon or TapRooT.
• Knowledge of DOE O 414.1E, 10 CFR 830 Subpart A, DOE O 226.1B, NQA-1, CRAD development, or DOE/NNSA assessment environments.
• Familiarity with BNL’s Integrated Operational Performance System.
