Director, RTW Embroidery & Embellishments

Location: New York, NY, United States

Compensation: $180,000–$230,000 USD per year, based on relevant experience and work location.

What you will do

• Define and drive the embroidery and embellishment design vision for all ready-to-wear collections in line with the brand DNA and seasonal direction.
• Develop intricate embroidery, beadwork, appliqué, and surface embellishment concepts for woven and knit categories.
• Create mood boards, color palettes, fabric and trim selections, sketches, and samples with internal teams and external artisans.
• Ensure design feasibility, quality, accuracy, and production readiness in partnership with pattern makers, sample makers, and product development teams.
• Manage a small team of textile and embellishment designers, including mentorship, feedback, workload planning, and delivery oversight.
• Collaborate with embroidery studios, vendors, global artisans, suppliers, and manufacturers; travel as needed for development and quality control.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in high-end or luxury fashion design, with a strong focus on embroidery and embellishments.
• Proven leadership experience managing design teams and collaborating cross-functionally.
• Exceptional hand-sketching and/or digital design skills, including Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Strong knowledge of embroidery techniques, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Digital portfolio of work required.
