Design Associate, Knits

Location: New York, New York, USA; onsite at the corporate headquarters.

Base pay range: $70,000–$80,000 per year.

What you will do

• Research and develop knit designs with the Senior Knitwear Designer, from initial swatches through first prototypes.
• Create design flats, creative mockups, and supplier-ready design cards using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Track seasonal timelines, milestones, and calendar dates for product and concept delivery.
• Collaborate with Merchandising and Product Development on seasonal lines and local development.
• Manage seasonal line sheets and support the apprentice.
• Organize the materials library and vintage knitwear archive.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of experience in knitwear design.
• Knowledge of knit construction, gauges, stitches, and yarns.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to sketch and create specifications, with a strong color sense.
• Basic knitting and embroidery skills, with a hands-on approach to product development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Design or a related field; strong organization, communication, collaboration, and self-management skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Pointcarre design software.
• Fashion or luxury brand experience.
