Patient Care Tech, PCT - Medical 3 Step Down Unit

Location: MelroseWakefield Hospital, United States; onsite patient care role. Schedule: 36 hours per week, day shift from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Pay range: $19.77–$24.57 per hour.

What you will do

• Provide direct patient care, including hygiene, elimination, catheter care, vital signs, skin care, mobility, feeding assistance, and post-mortem care.
• Monitor and communicate patients’ physical and emotional status, report changes to the RN, answer call lights, and perform purposeful hourly rounding.
• Perform 12-lead EKGs, point-of-care testing, specimen collection, labeling, documentation, and timely transport.
• Set up equipment and assist physicians and clinicians with treatments, dressings, tests, and other procedures.
• Follow patient identification, belongings, infection-control, safety, code, disaster, and confidentiality procedures.
• Support unit operations and perform assigned patient observer and unit secretary duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to read, write, and understand medical terminology.
• Knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques, point-of-care testing, and age-appropriate patient care.
• Interpersonal, organizational, computer, and confidentiality skills.
• Ability to lift 30–35 pounds, turn patients, and stand or walk for extended periods.

Nice to have

• Four years of healthcare or nursing service experience.
• Certification as a patient care associate, clinical associate, nursing assistant, or equivalent.
