TL;DR
PET Technologist Assistant (Diagnostic): Assisting PET Technologists with PET imaging operations and direct patient care with an accent on IVs, phlebotomy, glucose testing, patient safety, and examination-room readiness. Focus on supporting imaging protocols, maintaining patient records and daily logs, handling PACS tasks, and coordinating care in a clinical environment.

Location: Peoria, Illinois, United States; willingness to travel to other clinics when necessary.

Salary: $16.00–$24.00 per hour, based on experience, education, and other factors.

What you will do

  • Assist the PET Technologist with daily PET imaging operations and resolve issues using critical thinking.
  • Provide directed patient care, including IVs, phlebotomy, and glucose testing.
  • Communicate with patients, physicians, and internal and external office personnel.
  • Support exam acquisition and processing protocols under PET Technologist direction.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort before, during, and after procedures.
  • Complete chart workups, daily logs, phone calls, PACS tasks, and examination-room supply maintenance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical background.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Manual and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, normal hearing, and eyesight correctable to 20/20.
  • Ability to stand and walk frequently and assist with lifting patients weighing up to 300 pounds.
  • Ability to follow HIPAA, OSHA, facility, and department safety policies in a clinical environment.

Nice to have

  • At least two years completed in a radiologic program approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • IEMA licensure through the Division of Nuclear Safety.
  • Knowledge of additional imaging modalities.
  • Phlebotomy or IV experience, a phlebotomy certificate, and medical terminology training.
