Senior Image Data Scientist (Bioimage Informatics)

What you will do

• Design, develop, validate, document, and operate image-analysis pipelines and visualization solutions for biomedical imaging research.
• Translate scientific questions into reproducible, scalable workflows using image analysis, statistics, computer vision, and machine learning.
• Manage image data, maintain analysis software and repositories, and evaluate emerging methods and tools.
• Provide technical consultation, documentation, and training to research teams.
• Lead image-analysis projects, coordinate related efforts, and contribute to shared Center for Bioimage Informatics infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, bioinformatics, computer science, data science, computer engineering, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, or at least 1 year with a master’s degree.
• Experience developing, validating, and maintaining image-analysis pipelines and managing large biological or medical imaging datasets.
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with computer vision, machine learning, deep learning, statistical image analysis, or scientific software.
• Experience with reproducible scientific workflows, containers, version control, and HPC or cloud environments.
• Technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, clear technical communication, documentation, and training experience.

Nice to have

• PhD or master’s degree in a relevant quantitative, computational, biomedical, or scientific field.
• Experience with vision transformers, foundation models, generative AI, large language models, or agentic AI tools.
• Knowledge of napari, ImageJ/Fiji, Cellpose, SAM-family models, QuPath, BioFormats, OME-Zarr/NGFF, or similar bioimaging platforms.
• Experience with Snakemake, Nextflow, R, Matlab, Java, or C/C++.
