Location: On-site 4+ days per week in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with regular travel to Tarrytown, New York, and Seattle, Washington.

What you will do

• Define the scientific vision, portfolio strategy, and platform investments for ex vivo and in vivo cell medicines.
• Lead cross-functional programs from target validation through IND preparation, Phase I manufacturing, and early clinical readouts.
• Advance CAR T design, in vivo delivery using viral vectors and LNPs, tissue and cell targeting, potency, and manufacturing strategies.
• Guide technical problem-solving across biodistribution, pharmacokinetics, on/off-target effects, immunogenicity, and safety risk mitigation.
• Build and mentor a high-performing organization of senior scientific leaders and functional experts across multiple sites.
• Manage external collaborations, budgets, headcount, resource allocation, compliance, and executive governance communications.

Requirements

• Advanced degree such as PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in cell biology, immunology, bioengineering, or a related discipline.
• 20+ years of biopharmaceutical R&D experience, including substantial cell-based therapy experience and programs advanced from discovery to IND and early clinical development.
• Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary, multisite teams and senior scientific leaders.
• Deep expertise in cell engineering, CAR design, viral vectors, potency and identity assays, process and analytical development, and translational biology.
• Experience with in vivo gene delivery, biodistribution and pharmacokinetics, on/off-target risk assessment, immunogenicity, CMC, regulatory pathways, and nonclinical safety packages.
• Strong portfolio management, financial planning, executive communication, stakeholder management, and talent development skills.
