Staff Accountant - BGE (Hybrid)

Location: Baltimore, Maryland, United States; hybrid work arrangement

Annual salary: $71,200–$97,900, plus a 10% annual bonus for eligible positions.

What you will do

• Perform and support monthly and quarterly financial statement close activities.
• Record financial transactions accurately and on time while executing Sarbanes-Oxley controls.
• Prepare financial reports, account reconciliations, variance analyses, and recommendations for internal and external reporting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners on accounting issues, planning, forecasting, regulatory matters, and business decisions.
• Support internal and external audits and regulatory data requests.
• Analyze processes and lead improvements involving automation, emerging technologies, and special projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
• 2–4 years of related accounting experience.
• Knowledge of accounting theory, principles, practices, regulations, FASB/GAAP, and SOX compliance.
• Strong analytical, judgment, documentation, teamwork, leadership, and project management skills.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and occasionally work overtime, weekends, or travel.

Nice to have

• MBA with a concentration in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA certification or public accounting experience.
• Regulatory, utility, FERC, SEC reporting, or energy industry experience.
• Experience using analytical tools and artificial intelligence to improve processes and analysis.
