SEMCO - Project Design Technician I

Location: Holland, Michigan, United States; field work throughout the Holland area and surrounding West Michigan region.

Salary: $23.41–$34.05 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and skills.

What you will do

• Coordinate infrastructure improvement programs with Engineering, Operations, and local municipalities.
• Prepare and maintain work orders, project cost estimates, construction databases, and project records.
• Support project design, feasibility reviews, new service inquiries, permitting, easements, and rights-of-way.
• Stake proposed service and main locations and inspect or audit contractor work in the field.
• Serve as a point of contact for customer and contractor questions and requests.
• Support Michigan Public Service Commission inspections, compliance activities, meetings, special projects, and training.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to successfully complete Operator Qualification training after hire.
• Strong analytical, organizational, written, verbal communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to operate a vehicle under the company’s Safe Driving Policy and follow safety, ethics, compliance, and legal requirements.
• Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and lift or carry 20–50 lbs.
• Ability to perform physical activities including standing, bending, crawling, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and reaching.

Nice to have

• College coursework or vocational training in drafting, surveying, electrical systems, circuit wiring, or a related technical field.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles.
• Working knowledge of business software applications and the ability to learn new systems.
