Cloud Security Engineer (AWS)

Location: Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, United States; hybrid work with 3 days per week in-office

What you will do

• Assess AWS environments for security risks, control gaps, and configuration issues.
• Design, implement, and improve cloud security controls for identity and access management, network security, encryption, logging, and monitoring.
• Review cloud security architectures for new and existing solutions and provide recommendations aligned with security and compliance requirements.
• Investigate cloud security events and findings, analyze root causes, and support remediation with engineering and operations teams.
• Maintain technical documentation, security standards, baselines, and cloud risk management reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a similar technical field.
• 5+ years of experience supporting cloud security, cloud engineering, or cloud infrastructure.
• Experience implementing or assessing security controls in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Experience with cloud identity and access management, network security, encryption, logging, monitoring, and configuration management.
• Experience with cloud-native security tools, security posture management tools, or infrastructure as code tools.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud security architecture reviews, cloud migrations, or cloud transformation programs.
• Knowledge of NIST, CIS, or ISO security frameworks and benchmarks.
• Scripting or automation experience with Python, CDK, PowerShell, Bash, or Terraform.
• Experience with container security, Kubernetes, or DevSecOps practices.
• AWS Certified Security – Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or CISSP certification.
