TL;DR
Director, Business Development (DoW) (UAS): Shaping and capturing U.S. Government programs for unmanned aircraft systems supporting combat, reconnaissance, training, and force protection missions with an accent on military requirements, acquisition pathways, and defense contracts. Focus on developing capture strategies, influencing CONOPS, leading proposals, and aligning UAS product development with funded U.S. military needs.

Location: Red Cat Corporate, Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. The role requires work in an office environment and occasional work in field and training environments, with primarily domestic U.S. travel and occasional international travel.

Compensation: Salary plus annual equity package and potential bonuses.

What you will do

  • Engage with U.S. Department of War and Department of Defense stakeholders to understand mission requirements and operational challenges.
  • Shape U.S. military CONOPS and requirements for training, readiness, and operational UAS employment.
  • Identify, qualify, and develop new government opportunities, follow-on procurements, Programs of Record, rapid acquisitions, and urgent operational requirements.
  • Develop capture strategies aligned with acquisition timelines, funding profiles, and competitive environments.
  • Lead or support proposals, white papers, RFIs, and RFP responses, while connecting funding sources and modernization initiatives to technology development.
  • Coordinate demonstrations, operational assessments, exercises, customer visits, and collaboration with program management, engineering, flight operations, and training teams.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive understanding of U.S. Government acquisition and program execution.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. military acquisition processes, budgeting cycles, and program planning.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, strategic planning, and engagement skills with senior military and government leaders.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residence for ITAR/EAR-controlled work and must not require sponsorship for export-restricted work authorization.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays, and operate in field and training environments including extreme weather and uneven terrain.

Nice to have

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience conducting market intelligence, threat-informed competitive analysis, and capability gap assessments.
  • Experience supporting U.S. defense growth strategies and Annual Operating Plan development.
