Machine Learning Engineer, Recommendations - USDS (AI)

Location: San Jose, California, United States; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Salary: $122,574–$259,200 annually, plus potential bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Build large-scale recommendation algorithms and systems for commerce, live streams, short videos, and general feeds.
• Develop long- and short-term user interest models from diverse, large-scale datasets.
• Design, evaluate, and iterate on candidate-generation and ranking models, including click-through-rate and conversion-rate prediction.
• Build real-time data pipelines, perform feature engineering, and optimize machine learning models.
• Develop supporting and debugging tools as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong programming and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of applied machine learning algorithms such as collaborative filtering, matrix factorization, factorization machines, Word2vec, logistic regression, gradient boosting trees, deep neural networks, or wide-and-deep models.
• Experience with deep learning tools such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as C++ or Python.
• Ability to work on-site in San Jose, with an in-person schedule of up to five days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with recommendation systems, online advertising, information retrieval, natural language processing, machine learning, or large-scale data mining.
• Publications in relevant machine learning and data mining conferences or journals.
• Experience in machine learning or data mining competitions such as Kaggle or KDD Cup.
