Machine Learning Engineer Graduate (Tech and Product, USDS) - 2027 Start (Recommendation Systems)

Location: San Jose, United States; fully in-person up to 5 days a week

Salary: $122,574–$187,200 annually, plus potential discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Design, build, train, and evaluate machine learning models for recommendation systems, search ranking, query understanding, and conversion prediction.
• Implement feature extraction, model training, evaluation, deployment, and A/B testing pipelines.
• Process large-scale user behavior data and catalog logs with distributed systems to create real-time and offline features.
• Optimize online inference latency and throughput for high-QPS production microservices.
• Analyze online metrics, identify bottlenecks, and iterate on models to improve business and product outcomes.

Requirements

• Completing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, computer systems, and software design.
• Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of machine learning.
• Must be able to work fully in person in San Jose up to 5 days per week.
• Must be available to begin onboarding by the end of 2027 and clearly state availability and graduation date on the resume.

Nice to have

• Internship or project experience in recommendation systems, search engines, computational advertising, or e-commerce AI.
• Experience with distributed computing frameworks.
