Director of Clinical Operations & Director of Nursing (DON)

Location: St. Louis, Missouri, US

Salary: $145,000–$165,000+ per year, based on experience

What you will do

• Oversee nursing and clinical operations across pre-op, operating room, PACU, and outpatient clinic services.
• Lead, mentor, supervise, and evaluate registered nurses, surgical technicians, and clinical support staff.
• Drive patient safety, infection prevention, quality improvement, and clinical best practices.
• Maintain readiness for CMS, Missouri state, and AAAHC accreditation surveys.
• Improve patient flow, scheduling, room turnover, and clinical efficiency.
• Manage clinical supplies, equipment, surgical resources, budgeting, labor, and supply cost control while partnering with physicians, anesthesia providers, and administration.

Requirements

• BSN required; MSN, MHA, MBA, or a related graduate degree preferred.
• Active, unencumbered Missouri RN license required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• At least five years of progressive clinical leadership or management experience.
• Experience in an ambulatory surgery center, outpatient surgical center, hospital perioperative department, or similar setting.
• Knowledge of perioperative and ambulatory nursing operations, healthcare compliance, EMR systems, and ASC operations.

Nice to have

• CNOR or comparable nursing leadership certification.
• Clinical familiarity with orthopedics, spine and neurology, interventional pain management, or plastic surgery.
• Experience preparing for or navigating AAAHC, CMS, or state regulatory surveys.
