Senior Underwriter Property

Location: Zurich, Switzerland; hybrid work with an expectation of at least three office days per week

Salary: CHF 100,000–150,000 for the Underwriter Property position or CHF 136,000–204,000 for the Senior Underwriter Property position, plus performance-based variable compensation.

What you will do

• Evaluate and underwrite complex property risks for medium-sized and large corporate clients in the Swiss market.
• Develop portfolio-growth initiatives and strengthen the company’s market presence.
• Build relationships with brokers and clients, identify new business opportunities, and negotiate terms and conditions.
• Analyse risk exposures and create tailored, profitable insurance solutions and programmes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and identify cross-selling opportunities across business lines.
• Monitor market and competitor trends, improve underwriting approaches, and support junior team members.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in commercial property underwriting for medium-sized to large corporate clients.
• Fluency in German and English, both written and verbal.
• Technical underwriting expertise and the ability to assess complex risks.
• Demonstrated business development and portfolio-growth experience.
• Strong knowledge of the Swiss insurance market, including local practices and broker relationships.

Nice to have

• Experience with international property insurance programmes and captive placements.
• French language skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
• Professional insurance qualification such as CII or equivalent.
