VP, Head of Epilepsy, R&D (Epilepsy)

Location: Remote/Home-Based in the United States, with listed locations in Palo Alto, California and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ability to travel 10%–20% of the time is required.

Salary: $445,000–$506,000 annual base pay for US-based candidates, with potential bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead clinical development strategy and execution across multiple epilepsy programs, including endpoints, trial designs, patient populations, budgets, timelines, and governance.
• Serve as the scientific leader for the Jazz Scientific Advisory Board in Epilepsy and represent the company with academic experts, regulators, congresses, and symposia.
• Build research collaborations with academic institutions and external partners and identify emerging scientific opportunities and technologies.
• Translate preclinical mechanisms and biomarkers into clinical hypotheses, endpoints, and development decision frameworks.
• Provide enterprise-wide epilepsy leadership, influence executive and Board stakeholders, and strengthen internal epilepsy capabilities.
• Integrate patient, caregiver, advocacy, diversity, access, and real-world perspectives into development strategies and trial design.

Requirements

• MD and PhD with specialization in Epilepsy.
• Board certification in Neurology or a related subspecialty.
• At least 10 years of drug development experience across academia and the pharmaceutical industry.
• Recognition as an academic epileptologist and/or epilepsy drug developer, with significant clinical research and trial leadership experience.
• Strong publication, conference presentation, investigator-initiated study, and scientific leadership record.
• Established networks across academic centers, clinical trial sites, and epilepsy organizations, plus experience leading teams in a global matrixed organization.
