Senior Technical Writer (Cybersecurity)

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, and govern technical documentation across front-end, back-end, database, security, and engineering teams.
• Prepare compliance artifacts including System Security Plans, Security Assessment Reports, Plans of Action and Milestones, ATO lifecycle documentation, and audit materials.
• Create developer-facing API references, integration guides, SDK documentation, data dictionaries, database schemas, metadata, and data governance documentation.
• Develop Standard Operating Procedures, change enablement documentation, incident response runbooks, and ITIL-aligned materials with subject-matter experts.
• Establish documentation standards, templates, version control, lifecycle management, structured authoring, and content reuse strategies.
• Coordinate documentation across engineering, security and compliance, product, and program leadership; support CI/CD documentation automation and mentor junior contributors.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Technical Writing, English, IT, or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant technical writing experience, or a master’s/PhD with 3+ years of relevant experience, in IT or cybersecurity environments.
• Experience documenting complex systems, architectures, APIs, and data models.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and Agile methodologies.
• Experience with Confluence, SharePoint, Markdown, DITA, Swagger/OpenAPI, Git, Visio, Lucidchart, Jira, and Azure DevOps.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with FedRAMP, NIST RMF, and ICD 503.
• Experience in DevSecOps environments.
• Knowledge of structured authoring frameworks, including DITA.
