Intern Communications (Brand & Channels)

Location: Merrillville, Indiana, United States; candidates must reside within 50 miles of the reporting location. This is a 12-week summer internship starting in May 2027.

Salary: $17.20–$27.80 per hour.

What you will do

• Draft, schedule, publish, and monitor content across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and Nextdoor.
• Write captions, articles, scripts, news releases, customer mailings, fact sheets, and web content.
• Support photography, videography, storyboarding, editing, and on-site content production.
• Track engagement and performance metrics using Hootsuite and native platform insights, then compile recurring reports.
• Support timely communications during emergency outages, monitor customer sentiment, and participate in post-outage reviews.
• Assist with public relations projects, community events, stakeholder lists, research, and communications request execution.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled at an accredited university or college in journalism, public relations, communications, or a related undergraduate program.
• Must be a rising junior or senior entering the 2027 fall term.
• Strong writing, organizational, self-management, and multitasking skills.
• Authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.
• Experience with a college newspaper or PR firm internship.
• Intermediate Adobe Suite skills, especially Photoshop, plus a photography, videography, or editing background.
