TL;DR
Quality Inspector (Aerospace): Performing diversified inspections of aerospace parts, assemblies, tools, fixtures, and measuring equipment against blueprints, inspection plans, and manufacturing specifications with an accent on CMM, surface plate inspection, GD&T, and calibration. Focus on creating inspection plans, validating product and test data, documenting non-conformances, and maintaining process control in a manufacturing shop floor environment.

Location: Elyria, Ohio, United States; onsite, 2nd shift Monday–Friday, 3:00pm–11:30pm. Training may take place on 1st shift, 6:30am–3:00pm, for up to six months.

Hourly pay: $35.81 per hour

What you will do

  • Perform production, experimental, and diversified inspections of parts, assemblies, castings, tools, fixtures, and measuring equipment.
  • Determine product conformance using inspection plans, blueprints, manufacturing outlines, specifications, and standard inspection equipment.
  • Create and retrieve inspection plans, request gauges, and lay out castings for subsequent machining operations.
  • Review product test data and shipping documents, validating compliance with test specifications, contracts, purchase orders, and drawing revisions.
  • Document non-conformances and complete inspection records, job routers, NCRs, reject tags, move tickets, and stock tickets.
  • Maintain product verification and process control, perform safety and routine maintenance checks, and participate in 5S and continuous improvement activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and basic reading, writing, mathematics, geometry, and trigonometry skills.
  • Previous CMM experience and surface plate inspection experience.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and the ability to read and interpret blueprints, detail sheets, manufacturing outlines, and written instructions.
  • Experience using rotary tables, height stands, electro limit/shadow gauges, comparators, sine bars, profilometers, and micrometers.
  • Proficient computer knowledge; prior calibration experience is preferred.
  • Only US Persons may be considered where access to Controlled Data or Information is required under ITAR. The role requires passing an annual near-vision and color-vision examination.
