TL;DR
Integrated Operations Engineer (Aerospace): Executing testing, launch, and on-orbit operations for Electron launch vehicles with an accent on avionics, RF systems, telemetry, and command and control. Focus on real-time troubleshooting, failure investigations, root cause analysis, and improving checkout procedures and launch cadence.

Location: Auckland, New Zealand; hands-on operations at the Auckland Mission Control Centre, LC-1 Mahia, and other launch sites. Domestic and international travel may be required.

What you will do

  • Execute testing and launch operations for Electron vehicles, including on-console duties and real-time situational awareness.
  • Configure and operate electrical, avionics, RF, tracking and telemetry, and command and control systems.
  • Improve checkout procedures, increase launch cadence, and streamline operational processes.
  • Perform real-time troubleshooting, failure investigations, and root cause analysis.
  • Develop proficiency across operational roles, train team members, and conduct post-test and post-flight analysis.
  • Support the design, development, and operation of test facilities, launch pads, and control centres.

Requirements

  • Degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or mechatronic engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience in engineering design, testing, and/or operations.
  • Ability to build working relationships, communicate effectively, make sound decisions under pressure, and maintain meticulous attention to quality and safety.
  • Ownership, adaptability, proactive risk communication, and a collaborative approach are expected.
  • New Zealand roles require eligibility to access equipment and data regulated by U.S. ITAR; nationality checks and background checks will be conducted before an offer.

Nice to have

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering design, testing, and/or operations.
  • Launch vehicle or spacecraft experience in integration, testing, launch, or mission operations.
  • Programming experience in Java, Python, or similar object-oriented languages.
  • Experience developing web-based tools using HTML or XML.
  • Networking knowledge including TCP/IP, UDP, multicast protocols, and routing.
