TL;DR
Cybersecurity Engineer I/II (Vulnerability & Patch Management) (Cybersecurity): Running vulnerability scans, tracking CVEs, coordinating patch deployment, and supporting security operations for a critical freight rail network with an accent on vulnerability prioritization, patch compliance, and infrastructure protection. Focus on testing patches, maintaining security workflows, collaborating with SOC and IT teams, and developing Python or PowerShell automation.

Location: Remote within the contiguous 48 states of the United States; up to 20% travel, including occasional in-person meetings at the Fort Worth, Texas headquarters.

Salary: $93,750–$175,000 annual base salary, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

  • Run vulnerability scans with Nessus, Qualys, or similar tools and track vulnerabilities across enterprise systems, cloud environments, and applications.
  • Research CVEs, support risk prioritization, and generate vulnerability reports and metrics.
  • Coordinate patch deployment across servers, endpoints, and network devices while monitoring failed or outstanding patch cycles.
  • Test patches in non-production environments and maintain patch schedules and documentation with IT and DevOps teams.
  • Maintain vulnerability and patch-management runbooks and support NIST- and SOX-related compliance documentation.
  • Collaborate with SOC and IT teams while developing beginner-level Python or PowerShell automation and gaining exposure to SIEM platforms.

Requirements

  • Current authorization to work in the United States is required.
  • At least two years of experience in cybersecurity engineering or a related role.
  • Basic understanding of vulnerabilities, CVEs, CVSS scores, and patch cycles.
  • Foundational familiarity with Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Ability to learn, document clearly, communicate effectively, and collaborate across teams.
  • Visa sponsorship may be available for H-1B transfers, TN status, and STEM OPT candidates with at least two years of remaining eligibility.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Security+, ITF+, cloud/security fundamentals, CEH, or OSCP-related knowledge.
  • Exposure to Nessus, Qualys, OpenVAS, AWS, Azure, GCP, Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Understanding of network concepts including IP addresses, ports, firewalls, and traffic flow.
