What you will do

• Manage accurate weekly multi-state payroll for more than 2,500 employees using Workday and interfacing with JD Edwards.
• Oversee payroll audits covering timesheets, labor expenses, billing rates, payroll interfaces, and general ledger activity.
• Lead, mentor, and evaluate payroll team members while setting team goals.
• Manage payroll tax reconciliation, registrations, returns, adjustments, and correspondence across federal, state, and local jurisdictions in coordination with Dayforce.
• Maintain certified payroll reporting for federally funded projects and process union dues, fringe benefits, and negotiated union rates.
• Perform payroll and general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, year-end W-2 processing, corrections, out-of-cycle payments, and process improvements.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll administration and payroll tax compliance.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience managing and evaluating team members.
• Working knowledge of payroll best practices, labor laws, and payroll tax regulations.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, communication, confidentiality, and problem-solving skills; proficiency in Excel.
• Basic general ledger accounting knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot payroll system issues.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred but not required.
