Focus on building and benchmarking foundation and deep-learning models, quantifying cellular heterogeneity, extracting biological insights, and publishing research findings.

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States (preferred); Spring House, Pennsylvania, United States; Beerse, Belgium; or Madrid, Spain. No fully remote option.

Base pay: $92,000–$111,000 annually for candidates hired in the United States. Candidates hired outside the United States receive local-market compensation and benefits.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, implement, validate, and benchmark AI/ML solutions for drug discovery using multimodal data from perturbed cells.
  • Analyze high-content imaging, phenomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics data to derive biological insights.
  • Develop computer vision methods to quantify the heterogeneity of perturbed cellular systems.
  • Collaborate with internal and external scientists and engineers on algorithm and product development.
  • Communicate technical methods and findings to cross-functional audiences and stakeholders.
  • Maintain documentation and code repositories, and prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications and conferences.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. completed within the last three years or expected within the next six months in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in AI/ML for biological applications and at least one of representation learning, multimodal integration, computational biology, or imaging microscopy.
  • Experience with foundation models and/or multimodal modeling of biological data, including Cell Painting, imaging microscopy, or multi-omics.
  • Knowledge of Transformers, CNNs, graph networks, self-supervised learning, multi-instance learning, and multimodal alignment and fusion.
  • Programming proficiency, preferably in Python, and experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Strong communication skills and a publication record in top-tier AI/ML conferences or journals.
