TL;DR
Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Van Allen Lab (AI) (Machine Learning/Cancer Genomics): Developing AI algorithms that integrate molecular profiles, pathology images, clinical notes, and outcomes data to support precision cancer medicine with an accent on deep learning, predictive modeling, and high-throughput bioinformatics pipelines. Focus on analyzing large-scale sequencing datasets, integrating clinical data, and building tools for data preparation, visualization, distribution, and collaborative research.

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States; onsite with occasional remote work

Salary: $72,000–$76,385 per year

What you will do

  • Develop AI and deep learning algorithms integrating molecular, pathology/image, and clinical data.
  • Analyze clinical sequencing data and large-scale datasets to identify genomic drivers, biomarkers, and treatment-response patterns.
  • Build and maintain high-throughput pipelines for integrating existing tools, databases, and clinical outcomes data.
  • Create tools for manipulating, preparing, displaying, and transferring processed data to collaborators and repositories.
  • Maintain, support, and document shared tools, codebases, and datasets.
  • Collaborate with researchers across Dana-Farber, the Broad Institute, and other institutions, including co-mentoring students.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, genetics, statistics, mathematics, physics, computer science, or comparable research experience.
  • Significant experience with machine learning, programming, and computational biology applications.
  • Strong background in statistics and biology, including cancer biology.
  • Experience with R and/or Python, large dataset management and curation, and cloud computing.
  • Strong oral and written communication, initiative, multitasking, and collaborative research skills.
  • Ability to work independently, seek mentorship, and mentor other community members.
