Benefits Manager

Location: San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. Standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; working from home on Wednesday is generally available, while Friday depends on the role and team.

Estimated base salary: $164,000–$186,000 per year, plus potential equity and other compensation components.

What you will do

• Own the strategy, design, and execution of benefits programs across the U.S. and Canada.
• Improve the employee experience, communications, and delivery of health, welfare, wellness, and retirement programs.
• Manage brokers, carriers, third-party administrators, renewals, and ongoing vendor performance.
• Administer the benefits platform, advising on enrollment strategy, data integrity, governance, reporting, and process optimization.
• Partner with People Operations, Payroll, Finance, Legal, and Talent Acquisition on employee lifecycle integration and cross-functional change initiatives.
• Use data and AI-first approaches to improve utilization, employee satisfaction, cost management, case management, and personalized communications.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience managing benefits programs, including health and welfare and retirement programs.
• Experience administering or serving as a power user of a benefits administration system.
• Strong knowledge of North American benefits compliance, including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, and state paid leave laws.
• Knowledge of total rewards principles and inclusive, equity-informed benefits design.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex plan information empathetically.
• Experience leading cross-functional change, influencing stakeholders without direct authority, and using metrics and data for decision-making.
