Director, Enterprise EH&S (Biotechnology)

Location: Minneapolis, MN, United States; hybrid or on-site based on business needs. Requires approximately 20–30% domestic and international travel and occasional work outside standard business hours.

Salary: $133,300–$219,100 per year

What you will do

• Develop and execute enterprise-wide EH&S strategy, governance frameworks, standards, policies, and performance expectations.
• Lead programs covering chemical safety, industrial hygiene, laboratory safety, biosafety, bloodborne pathogens, ergonomics, hazard communication, and environmental compliance.
• Direct product stewardship, SDS governance, global classification and labeling, including CLP requirements.
• Assess enterprise risks, establish mitigation strategies, and lead incident investigations, audits, inspections, emergency preparedness, and corrective actions.
• Provide strategic and technical guidance to site-level EH&S leaders through a matrix organization and manage external consultants.
• Partner with R&D, Facilities, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, HR, and Sustainability on operational and capital initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental science or engineering, public health, chemistry, biology, or a related technical discipline.
• 10 or more years of progressive EH&S experience, including enterprise, regional, or multi-site programs.
• Experience developing enterprise EH&S standards, governance processes, and risk management programs.
• Experience in laboratory, research, manufacturing, healthcare, biotechnology, life sciences, or another regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. OSHA and environmental regulations, with familiarity with international EH&S requirements.
• Experience influencing across matrixed organizations and driving organizational change and a culture of safety.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental health, engineering, or a related field.
• CIH, CSP, CHMM, or equivalent professional certification.
• Expertise in product stewardship, SDS management, CLP, REACH, ISO 14001, or ISO 45001.
• Experience developing enterprise audit programs, leading regulatory inspections, and managing external technical providers.
