Site Reliability Engineer - Video Platform - USDS (Video Platform)

Location: San Jose, United States; fully in-person up to 5 days per week

Salary: $122,574–$259,200 annually

What you will do

• Own the reliability of TikTok’s video publishing and distribution systems.
• Manage the production system lifecycle, including changes, deployments, operations, and emergency response.
• Monitor services, respond to incidents, and follow up on production issues to maintain SLAs.
• Manage compute, storage, and network capacity to improve stability and control infrastructure costs.
• Support major events and high-volume Internet traffic.
• Build operational tools, automations, visualizations, and monitoring for global infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Programming experience in at least one of: C, C++, Java, Python, C#, or Go.
• Extensive knowledge of networking, operating systems, databases, and container technology.
• Understanding of microservice architecture and hands-on troubleshooting experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with Linux, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, and ELK.
• Ability to work fully in person in San Jose, with on-site presence up to 5 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience building solutions with AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or other cloud services.
• Self-motivation and strong teamwork skills.
