Director (Strategic Communications)

Location: Hybrid role based at the headquarters in downtown Washington, DC; in-person work is required on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Salary: $85,000–$115,000 annually

What you will do

• Manage day-to-day activities across several client accounts and contribute to internal teams.
• Consult with clients and develop communications strategies.
• Produce high-level communications materials.
• Manage media relations campaigns and work with reporters.
• Develop creative, strategic solutions to communications challenges.
• Manage staff, clients, and project teams while handling multiple projects.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of experience in strategic communications or public relations, with proven results.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience developing and editing high-quality written materials.
• Experience managing staff, clients, or project teams.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a diverse workload.
• Bachelor’s degree and familiarity with professional digital media channels.

Nice to have

• Experience in public affairs or corporate communications.
• Experience managing digital media communications.
• Experience working with reporters and senior executives at corporations or associations.
