Associate Actuary - Retail Property

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; primarily in-office

Salary: $129,000–$154,000 annual base range for positions based in New York; other stated ranges are $115,000–$148,000 for New Jersey and $110,000–$141,000 for Illinois. Bonus eligibility applies according to the applicable incentive plan.

What you will do

• Support North America Property pricing activities across Retail and Canada.
• Develop pricing and underwriting strategies with the Chief Underwriting Office and identify opportunities for profitable growth.
• Review and improve pricing-system parameters while monitoring adherence to pricing procedures and methodologies.
• Coordinate pricing, planning, and accumulation management with catastrophe modeling teams, considering expected losses, reinsurance costs, and capital requirements.
• Develop analytical tools and reporting to help underwriters assess insured risks and align pricing frameworks across platforms and business classes.
• Analyze Canada Property Programs, reserve development, rate needs, and the impact of pricing and underwriting actions.

Requirements

• Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) or higher.
• At least five years of commercial lines actuarial experience, preferably including substantial commercial property pricing experience.
• Strong understanding of catastrophe modeling fundamentals.
• Ability to communicate and present clear, concise analyses and recommendations to senior management.
