Scientist - Global Pathogen Safety (Biologics / Plasma)

What you will do

• Provide technical and execution support for pathogen safety topics, including control strategies for adventitious agents such as viruses and prions.
• Plan and execute pathogen safety risk assessments for changes, deviations, investigations, contamination control strategies, materials, testing approaches, and emerging pathogen risks.
• Support virus validation study design, virus clearance strategy development and optimization, Quality by Design activities, and regulatory submission content.
• Prepare and review technical reports, audit and inspection support materials, SOPs, work instructions, and training materials.
• Collaborate with TechOps, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, and lifecycle management stakeholders.
• Conduct literature research and summarize scientific and regulatory developments for decision-making and ongoing risk evaluations.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD degree in Life Sciences, such as Virology, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in R&D, Quality, or a related pharmaceutical or biotechnology function.
• Strong scientific and analytical expertise in virology, biochemistry, and/or microbiology, with the ability to independently solve complex scientific problems.
• Prior GxP experience, including deviation and change assessments, is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German are required.
• Industrial pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience is required; primarily academic or basic-science experience without industrial exposure will not be considered.

• Sound knowledge of pathogen safety principles for biologics.
