EHS Specialist II (Environmental Health and Safety)

Location: Middletown, Delaware, United States; on-site. Domestic travel required up to 10%.

The Middletown location manages environmental, health, safety, emergency response, and compliance activities for its laboratory and office environments.

What you will do

• Support EHS management system development by drafting standard operating procedures, guidance documents, and training materials.
• Prepare environmental reports, including waste, SARA Title III, air emissions, and medical waste reports.
• Manage EHS software covering incident investigations, area inspections, CAPA actions, permits, and training records.
• Lead root cause analyses, support corrective action planning, and track site EHS KPIs for leadership reviews.
• Lead first aid, emergency response, spill response, evacuation planning, and employee preparedness training.
• Manage hazardous waste activities and support ergonomic and industrial hygiene projects, including air sampling, indoor air quality, and surface wipe assessments.

Requirements

• 4+ years of related EHS experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related science discipline; environmental engineering, environmental science, occupational safety, or industrial hygiene is preferred.
• Experience with environmental reporting, risk management, emergency response, hazardous materials, and day-to-day health, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Ability to evaluate complex health, safety, training, and industrial hygiene issues and implement protective solutions.
• English proficiency required for reading, writing, and verbal communication.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; ability to work in office and laboratory environments with biohazards and chemicals and use required PPE.

Nice to have

• CHMM, CSP, ASP, or CIH certification.
• Experience with biosafety, radiation safety, or potent compound programs.
