Internal Auditor - Director (Financial Services)

What you will do

• Support business development, proposals, budgets, timelines, and project planning for internal audit engagements.
• Conduct client risk assessments, research organizational risks, and develop internal audit plans.
• Execute audits by interviewing senior management, overseeing engagement teams, reviewing workpapers, and supporting kickoff and exit meetings.
• Manage engagement scope, progress, budgets, risks, issues, billing, and overall project economics.
• Prepare draft reports, validate issues, and complete internal audit engagements.
• Build client and internal relationships while contributing to thought leadership materials and identifying further advisory opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in internal audit and AML, BSA, and OFAC compliance within financial services, banking, consulting, public accounting, or a regulatory environment.
• Strong knowledge of IIA Standards, auditing standards and procedures, and applicable financial services laws and regulations.
• Experience developing and implementing financial, operational, technology, and compliance audit programs, including process controls and risk assessment.
• Experience managing co-sourcing and outsourcing engagements and using advanced technology and AI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Enterprise ChatGPT, or Copilot.
• Strong client-facing, communication, analytical, problem-solving, multitasking, and deadline-management skills; willingness to travel to client sites as needed.

Nice to have

• Industry certification such as CIA, CPA, or CAMS.
