Data & AI Governance Specialist (Fintech)

Location: Barcelona, Spain; hybrid work from Barcelona

What you will do

• Build practical data and AI governance systems that support trusted self-service analytics and responsible AI use.
• Implement automated data quality checks across pipelines, dashboards, machine learning workflows and AI use cases.
• Manage data catalogs, AI model inventories, model registries, documentation, business definitions and data lineage.
• Monitor data health and model performance, investigate anomalies and support root-cause analysis for quality or drift incidents.
• Develop self-service templates and tooling for domain teams, Data Champions and AI Owners to test, certify and maintain governed assets.
• Support AI risk assessments, audits and practical safeguards for transparency, human oversight, access control, PII masking and bias mitigation.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of hands-on experience in data governance, data quality engineering, analytics engineering, AI operations or a related area.
• Experience implementing governance practices, automated data quality tests, and data catalog, metadata or documentation tools.
• Working knowledge of GDPR and SOC 2, with the ability to translate legal and privacy requirements into technical solutions.
• Strong analytical and communication skills for collaborating with business, data, engineering, legal, privacy and security stakeholders.
• Professional working proficiency in English and Spanish.
• A self-service mindset focused on standards, automation and enablement rather than manual approval gates.

Nice to have

• Understanding of AI and machine learning lifecycles, generative AI application patterns, model drift and AI model registries.
• Familiarity with AI bias detection or mitigation and the EU AI Act.
• Experience with OpenMetadata, Metabase, Omni, Amazon Redshift, Claude or similar tools.
• Experience supporting semantic layers, ontology graphs, access marketplaces or data ownership initiatives.
