Underwriting Specialist, Commercial Auto and Transportation

Location: Toronto, Canada; primarily in the office

Salary: CAD $85,000–$118,000 annually, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Underwrite Canadian commercial auto policies, including Owned Auto, Non-Owned Auto, Garage, Lessor’s Contingent, and CGL policies.
• Analyze risks and ensure compliance with casualty underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Produce profitable new and renewal business for the national commercial auto portfolio.
• Build and maintain relationships with brokers, producers, clients, and internal underwriting, claims, and actuarial teams.
• Provide customer service, participate in special underwriting projects, and mentor and train underwriters.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in casualty and commercial auto underwriting, specifically involving commercial auto and transportation risks.
• Knowledge of the transportation industry and litigation trends in Canada and the United States.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service, negotiation, decision-making, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
