Optical Module Software/Firmware Intern (Optical DSP)

Location: Onsite internship at hirify.global offices in Wuhan, Shanghai, or Suzhou, China

What you will do

• Support customer optical module firmware and software development alongside senior field application engineers.
• Build equipment-control scripts for laboratory automation and testing.
• Assist with module tuning, optimization, product bring-up, TX/RX performance testing, and issue reproduction.
• Support firmware operations including image flashing, configuration, register access, and status or log collection over I²C and MDIO.
• Support module management features and compliance checks such as CMIS 5.x and 8636.
• Participate in customer support sessions, technical debugging, documentation, FAQ creation, and internal training materials.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in software, computer science, electronics, electrical or control engineering, or a related field.
• Comfortable programming in C and Python, with the ability to write small utilities and read or modify embedded code.
• Strong willingness to learn, effective communication skills, and a collaborative mindset.
• Availability for an onsite internship of at least 4–6 months.
• Experience with DCA, BERT, or other test equipment is advantageous.
• Knowledge of signal and power integrity or simulation tools such as ADS and HFSS is desirable.
