Sr Principal Engineer - Mechanical Design (Gas Turbines)

Location: San Diego, California; onsite five days a week.

Salary: $128,470–$192,710 per year.

What you will do

• Provide technical input to a multidisciplinary product engineering team working on Taurus 70 and Titan 250 gas turbine research and engineering programs.
• Lead the design and development of complex components and systems from market understanding and concept development through detailed design, release, first article build, and field trials.
• Lead teams in resolving manufacturing and operational issues while ensuring design acceptance, manufacturing producibility, and product validation.
• Develop and implement engineering procedures and process improvements that improve reliability, efficiency, quality, cost, maintainability, and time to market.
• Collaborate with engineering, technology, new product introduction, operations, supply chain, marketing, application engineering, testing, overhaul, and customer service functions, with occasional customer interaction.
• Lead projects and mentor others while applying analytical thinking, decision-making, project management, design engineering, product testing, and product development expertise.

Requirements

• Degree required in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
• Extensive experience in analytical thinking, including root-cause analysis, evaluating alternatives, quantifying costs and risks, and solving complex problems.
• Extensive experience in decision-making and critical thinking, including analyzing assumptions, validating options, and advising others.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent priorities, projects, groups, or activities and adjusting plans as priorities change.
• Working knowledge of technical excellence and project management, including project planning, estimating, stakeholder information gathering, and status reporting.
• Extensive experience in design engineering, including detailed engineering designs and specifications, material and supplier selection, feasibility studies, prototypes, testing, and interpretation of test data.
• Extensive experience in product testing, including test planning, execution, methodology selection, tools, scenarios, schedules, and resource estimation.
• Extensive experience in product design and development from concept through production, including proof-of-concept work, prototypes, development standards, and solutions to complex design problems.
