Revenue Accounting Consultant

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, California, United States

Salary: $75–85 per hour, W2, depending on experience

What you will do

• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analyses, and financial reporting.
• Review customer agreements and business transactions, determine appropriate accounting treatment, and document accounting conclusions.
• Maintain and reconcile deferred revenue, contract assets, contract liabilities, and accounts receivable-related balances.
• Analyze revenue trends, prepare management reports, and support forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning.
• Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Legal, FP&A, Billing, and other teams to resolve revenue-related issues.
• Support audits, process improvements, internal controls, automation, system implementations, and finance transformation projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in revenue accounting, general accounting, financial reporting, or a related function.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and revenue accounting principles; ASC 606 experience is preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, or similar financial systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills with excellent attention to detail.
• CPA certification or progress toward CPA certification is preferred but not required.

Nice to have

• Experience in technology, SaaS, subscription-based, manufacturing, or other organizations with complex revenue processes.
• Familiarity with revenue automation, billing, or reporting tools.
