Senior Director, Small Molecule Drug Discovery in Inflammation Discovery (Small Molecule Drug Discovery)

What you will do

• Lead early discovery inflammation research for small molecule programs from target identification through preclinical assessment, IND, and first-in-human studies.
• Provide strategic and scientific leadership for the inflammation small molecule research portfolio.
• Define target- and portfolio-level strategies for traditional small molecules, degraders, molecular glues, ADCs, and emerging chemistry-enabled approaches.
• Represent inflammation research in governance forums, portfolio reviews, and strategic initiatives.
• Lead matrixed teams across screening, medicinal chemistry, structural biology, PKDM, and translational safety.
• Advance high-impact programs through clinical and regulatory support.

Requirements

• Doctorate degree and 5 years of immunology discovery research experience, or a master’s degree and 9 years, or a bachelor’s degree and 11 years.
• At least 5 years of direct people management or leadership experience directing teams, projects, programs, or resource allocation.
• Deep expertise in the molecular mechanisms of immunological diseases.
• Experience leading matrixed teams in small molecule drug discovery.
• Ability to work full-time onsite in South San Francisco, California, United States.
