Reinsurance Accounting Consultant (Reinsurance)

Location: Remote within the United States, primarily working East Coast business hours; Jersey City, New Jersey is listed as the role location.

Pay rate: $65/hr–$75/hr.

What you will do

• Perform accounting for individual risk and program business across Property and Casualty Facultative divisions.
• Oversee monthly billing, daily cash application, vouchering, and cash receipts and disbursements.
• Analyze premium bordereaux, reconcile invoices to supporting documentation, and validate calculations against contractual terms.
• Maintain reinsurance system contract setups and manage billing for new certificates and endorsements.
• Resolve collection issues, overdue balances, missing accounts, and unapplied cash with clients and assistant underwriters.
• Prepare monthly closing reports, quarterly underwriting results, management reports, and Assumed & Ceded Schedule F for the Annual Statement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 7+ years of accounting experience, including a strong focus on reinsurance or insurance.
• Solid understanding of reinsurance accounting principles, including premium and loss bordereaux.
• Proficiency in reinsurance systems and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, reconciliation, communication, and relationship management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal control frameworks.
• Ability and willingness to work primarily during East Coast business hours.

• CPA certification or progress toward certification.
