Civil/Structural Estimator (Concrete/Structural Steel)

Salary: $95,975.90–$109,686.74 per year

What you will do

• Prepare detailed estimates for cast-in-place and precast concrete, foundations, rebar, structural steel, and other heavy civil components.
• Perform quantity take-offs from design drawings, specifications, and BIM models.
• Analyze labor, material, equipment, installation costs, escalation, contingencies, and market conditions.
• Evaluate deep foundations, superstructure framing, elevated slabs, and support systems for scope gaps and constructability risks.
• Support value engineering, change-order pricing, contractor bid reviews, and estimate reconciliation.
• Align estimates with schedules and budgets while maintaining cost databases, benchmarks, forecasts, and historical cost data.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7–12+ years of estimating experience focused on civil and structural scopes.
• Demonstrated expertise in concrete and structural steel estimating for large-scale infrastructure or vertical construction projects.
• Strong experience with quantity take-offs and cost analysis from construction documents.
• In-depth knowledge of construction means and methods, materials, and cost drivers.
• Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with transportation, transit, or large public agency projects such as Port Authority, MTA, or DOT work.
• Knowledge of urban infrastructure constraints, including phasing, access, logistics, and staging.
• Experience with Design-Build, CM/GC, or alternative delivery methods.
• Proficiency with CostX, RSMeans, Bluebeam, Primavera, or eBuilder.
• Knowledge of ACI, AISC, and IBC codes and standards.
