Mechanical Design Engineer (HVAC)

Location: Memphis, Tennessee, United States; onsite, full-time. Weekend day shift: Friday–Monday.

HVAC equipment products are developed, prototyped, tested, and released for production at hirify.global facilities.

What you will do

• Develop and modify equipment diagrams, prototype designs, component specifications, bills of materials, and translation documents.
• Perform mechanical CAD modeling and simulations, and support DFMEA, PFMEA, CFD, FEA, seismic evaluations, and testing.
• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical designers, engineers, operations, and production to integrate designs and implement engineering change notices.
• Provide design guidance and oversight to mechanical designers, lead project work, and mentor junior Design Engineers.
• Establish equipment testing, operation, maintenance, and repair procedures; troubleshoot designs for functionality and safety.
• Prepare cost estimates, product documentation, operating instructions, technical literature, test fixtures, and prototypes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology and 5 years of industry experience, or an associate degree and 10 years of industry experience.
• Strong mechanical engineering, product design, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to lead projects from conceptual design through recommendations and release, and to mentor junior Design Engineers.
• Knowledge of safety and design standards including UL, CE, NEC, IBC, and NFPA.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to temperatures below 32°F or above 90°F, dust, and chemical fumes.
