Structural Engineering Designer (Rail + Transit)

Salary: $81,200–$105,000 annually

What you will do

• Assist with structural design and analysis for stations, maintenance facilities, coachyards, and right-of-way structures.
• Prepare calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports under senior engineer guidance.
• Collaborate with civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural engineers on complex transit projects.
• Support field investigations, site visits, and condition assessments.
• Apply AREMA, AASHTO, IBC, and NYC-specific codes and standards.
• Participate in client meetings and progressively take on more design responsibility through mentorship.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 1–5 years of structural engineering experience, preferably in transit, transportation, or infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, or similar.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.
• Passion for learning and developing technical capabilities in complex engineering projects.

Nice to have

• EIT certification.
• Progress toward PE licensure.
• Experience with Revit, MicroStation/OpenBuildings, or AutoCAD.
