Operational Technology Asset Management Consultant - Transport (OT)

Location: Manchester, UK; hybrid working with at least 2 days per week in the office or on a client site, and up to 5 days per week on a client site depending on the assignment. Applicants must be British citizens or have been continuously resident in the UK for the past 5 years for roles requiring higher security clearance.

What you will do

• Diagnose and improve the maintenance, monitoring, renewal, reliability, resilience, and availability of OT assets and operational systems.
• Apply ISO 55001-aligned principles to develop asset strategies, governance, standards, assurance, and lifecycle controls.
• Analyse operational data, fault and incident logs, service KPIs, and asset-health information to identify root causes and performance gaps.
• Build performance baselines, investment cases, improvement plans, and risk-based maintenance approaches.
• Support operating-model improvements, digital tooling, telemetry, monitoring platforms, analytics, and transformation roadmaps.
• Work with clients operating complex, safety-critical, and highly regulated transport infrastructure.

Requirements

• Experience or exposure in operational technology, engineering, maintenance, operations, reliability engineering, systems engineering, infrastructure management, or asset management.
• Knowledge of asset strategies, lifecycle planning, performance management, investment planning, risk-based maintenance, or reliability engineering.
• Exposure to OT environments such as SCADA, PLCs, control rooms, control systems, telemetry, signalling, roadside systems, or industrial automation.
• Strong analytical, structured problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-engagement skills.
• UK residency eligibility may be required: British citizenship or at least 5 years of continuous UK residency for higher security clearance.
• All PA employees undergo background checks and Baseline Personnel Security Standard screening.

Nice to have

• Experience with asset-performance monitoring tools or APM platforms.
• Familiarity with operational risk, safety, or assurance frameworks.
• Understanding of the interfaces between OT, IT, operations, and engineering.
• Membership or interest in membership of professional bodies such as IAM.
